I’ve been trying for ages to get credit in some form or fashion.  Apparently, not having debt is a bad thing when it comes to financing anything.  I guess the credit bureau just thought that since I had no debt, but a college degree, that I’d never bought anything before?  I don’t know.  The deal is that without credit, you can’t get credit, meaning no financing options for Robin in the way of buying a house, buying furniture, even getting a credit card. It’s quite the catch 22. Obviously, I’ve been a bit perturbed about the situation. BUT, I put my name on Steven’s old credit card last month, basically co-signing on a card, because that’s one of the only options I had for building credit. One month later, I was FINALLY approved for a credit card….which means I will finally be approved for buying furniture!! Now, before I get lectured about credit card debt, please remember that I’ve never had debt, thankfully. And I understand budgeting, I’m not going to go nuts and buy things that are out of my means or max out my new card…I’ve got this. I’m just glad to be on the credit radar…sheesh did it take long enough.

On another note, it would seem that after such a long snow hiatus, we will be returning to school tomorrow. Two hours late, woo! It will be nice to get back into the swing of things, even though we’re supposed to get a “wintery mix” on Monday morning. We’ve yet to go for a full week since the beginning of this semester!

Have a watch of this, it made me happy. Amy Vickers told me about it. I love when people will join together just to make something fun. And who doesn’t love Oprah?

So, no school today, what with the holiday.  So I piddled around the house and cleaned up a few areas that really needed organizing.  I finally got my art room set up yesterday!  I still need to organize my painting materials, but my sewing/knitting space is set up.  With that I began a baby sweater :) .  It’s a pattern on Lionbrand’s website.  I’m using some of the cotton yarn that I got for christmas.  It’s a pretty pink/green/white/purple mix.  I only got a ball of it and Hobby Lobby didn’t have anymore of it on the shelves so I just decided to improvise by using mix on the back panel and using the last bit as an inch trim on the front panels and sleeves.  It’s working so far, I got the back and front left done today.  I had no idea how quick baby clothes were to knit; it’s great!  Here’s a link to the pattern:

It’ll be a little big for her for a while, so I figure I can just put it over a onesie and she can wear it as a dress at first and then a sweater layer as she gets bigger.  Yay!

So, I’m on my 5th snow day…making that 7 consecutive days off.  I appreciate the break, but I do like my job enough to be ready to go back.  Plus, there’s the pain of reeling my students back into a working classroom atmosphere, something that is quite trying after winter break, much less after that two days of school and then another snow break.  I’ll be getting my final evaluation for the year tomorrow during a class as well.  It’s unannounced as to which class it will be, so hopefully all will go well :) .

That means that I’ve got a lot of school work to get done before tomorrow.  I need to write my pre-eval papers, fix grades for report cards on Friday, take examples of masks to school and put up poster examples on the board, do laundry…and I want to make a good dinner.  At least I’ve just finished the grades; after not understanding what in the world I was doing until today, the light bulb flickered on.

We did get a neat surprise today.  My cousins and uncle in Hawaii sent us a baby gift!  They gave us the awesome baby monitor that we had registered for on target!  We only put it on there as a “want” we didn’t expect it.  So super huge thank-yous to them and their pretty new baby Journey :D .  She’s beautiful.

Well, until another day…here’s pictures of the room, I’ve got a rug and lamp and glider still to add.  It’s seriously the most coordinated room in the whole house.

I finished painting the lovely little Ford’s room today and then mama, soon to be Gran, and I went to Target in Mt. Juliet and got my crib, mattress, changing table, and some crib accessories…all on clearance might I add!  She and I are going back up tomorrow to pick up the crib, my car was two inches lacking in width to fit.  That only leaves one major piece of furniture left for the room, the rocker, which I guess I’ll order online since they didn’t have one in the store.  We’re super pumped!  We’ve just got to find a way to get Clark to stay away from the stuffed Pooh that is in there.  He thinks that it’s eventually going to be his; he’s very wrong.

Well, I’ll get back with some pictures tomorrow!  And Mrs. Brittany…I will call you tomorrow…I’m sorry I failed to get back with you on Sunday, I was in an awful sour mood.  Not for any real reason in particular, just a mood swing.  :D

So, Steven and I are trying to clean up the language a bit, as a cursing toddler is cute, yet embarrassing.  I know it’s a ways away to be worrying about, but we figured sooner the better.  Instead of dropping whatever word bomb we have, we’re just saying “cuss.”  Thanks to the idea from Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox.  It makes it fun at least.

Anyway, today we had a bit of snow.  In the usual tradition of Cookevegas, schools are closed both today and tomorrow.  I daresay that if the temperature doesn’t get up before Monday, we might be in for one more day.  I spent my snow day mostly painting the nursery :D .  Her room’s looking pretty sweet!  I still need to do a second coat on the silhouette so it pops a bit more in contrast, but that’s for tomorrow’s snow day.  I’m intending on finishing…I can do it, I think.  We’ll see.

I’m going to try to put up a few pictures, maybe I can figure it out.

So, I’ve decided to start a blog.  I’m going to try to write at least once a week, just to update on the comings and goings of what I’ve been up to.   Now, I’m not promising a picture every time, although I’d like to try that, but I know my ways.  So, every once in a while, I suppose I’ll put up a picture or two.

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope that every one has made and kept their resolutions for the past few days.  My resolution was to be better at writing thank you cards.  Something that Mr. Ford and I began working on just the other night.  We decided we needed to write thank-yous to all of the people who were part of us buying a new home.  They are all written, but only one was sent in the mail, the rest will be hand delivered…hopefully tomorrow after I get out of work.  Mr. President, however, will be receiving his via the US postal service.

Well, with all of that in mind, I suppose I’m done for the night.  Mayhap I’ll write another in a couple of days.  Who knows?  Night :)
